Description:
The Account Development Manager is responsible for soliciting new business from active customers. The ADM is also responsible for providing exceptional customer service by building and maintaining relationships with customers and responding to their needs and expectations. This includes the primary functions of accepting freight, building, and scheduling loads (in our TMS), and communicating any service issues to the appropriate team members.
- Actively pursues dormant accounts and generates new business by identifying new contacts, products, and service opportunities within portfolio
- Foster relationships and build opportunities for stability and long-term growth with customers by gaining an understanding of their expectations and specific preferences
- Make revenue generating decisions
- Sell new services to the customer by effectively negotiating and offering strategic pricing
- Actively maintain and review margin and volume within your portfolio of accounts.
- Act as a liaison between the customer and Logistic Coordinators by communicating customer status updates and providing problem resolution as necessary.
- Understand and actively work with customer-issued scorecards to improve customer service and meet customer expectations
- Enter shipment data into our TMS system accurately and completely
OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Enter activity in a CRM for all customer solicitations and sales.
- Update customer websites with shipment information
- Additional duties as assigned
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience
- 1 to 3 years business experience in customer service or related field
REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
- Independent and out of the box thought process
- Proven ability to work autonomously and make sound business decisions
- Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and email
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with others, promoting a team environment
- Active listening skills to gain a clear understanding of customer needs in order to drive solutions
- Possess the ability to accept constructive criticism from both external and internal sources. Learn from mistakes and improve your professional skills
- Regular and predictable attendance
PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
- Previous experience with CRM/TMS platform’s such as Mercury Gate, E2 Open, Shipwell, Ryder, JDA, SalesForce, Navisphere, and Manhattan
