MECHANICAL ENGINEER

As the resource of the “physical” realm of products, as a Mechanical Engineer here at Vebu Labs, Inc., you will ensure we can create the right experience for our customers as they physically interact with what we make.
Competencies:
- Derive and maintain products mechanical requirements
- Oversee mechanical design process including design of vehicle chassis, drivetrain,
battery pack, sensor integration - Generate and review the teams stress, kinematic and thermal analysis of the robots
subsystems - Work with certifying agencies to ensure safety certification of the robots mechanical
subsystems - Participate in the products testing, review data in ROS and assess the workings of the
mechanical subsystems - Work with the Manufacturing Lead to bring the robot to contract manufacturing production
You Will:
- Research and key component selection including sensors, actuators, controllers, and any other relevant components to achieve automation targets and functions
- Lead designs for automation efforts focused on cost and scalability for Vebu Labs, Inc. Portfolio Companies
- Ability to perform detailed thermal and structural analysis of complex mechanical systems. Use appropriate FEA, CFD tools to accomplish analysis in a manner that supports rapid virtual prototyping to help accelerate development timelines
- Provide leadership in execution of prototyping, engineering validation builds and production ramp for different automation applications that Vebu Labs, Inc. supports
- Scope and support DOEs (design of experiments) necessary for design testing, verification and validation
- Mechanical packaging of components with an eye for efficiency and design practicality.
You Have:
- BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or other relevant educational background
- 0-3 years of industrial experience successfully developing robotic/automation systems
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills to levels above, below and in-line
- In-depth robot/automation hardware design experience with both system-level thinking and component-level development
- Keen ability to identify and foresee technical risk, and engineering mindset of addressing risks early
- Drive to grow and maintain technical knowledge current with advancing technology related to product development of automation systems
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with machine shop tools and some ability to fabricate or modify simple parts
- Creative curiosity, high adaptability, entrepreneurial spirit, and driving personal vision
- Experience using Simulink and writing high-level controls and state-machine firmware
- Breadth of experience in automation in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, food or consumer products
- Experience developing robotic based prototypes
