Azure Cloud Architect

Summary

You will be part of a team of driven and enthusiastic engineers working to prototype, design, develop, and test our innovative STAR-3DTM hybrid rocket engine-powered small launch vehicle.

 

In this position you are the top-level Azure Cloud Architect with expertise in Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Application Development. As part of an expert team, you are responsible for managing analysis, requirements building, planning and delivery of services to the MS Azure Cloud. You will be the Azure Cloud subject matter expert to inform and develop architecture, usage, provisioning, and configuration solutions.

 

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. A willingness to branch outside your comfort zone is essential… we’re a small fast-paced company and everyone pitches in when needed. This is an opportunity to get in near the ground floor of an expanding space launch start up and have a direct impact on the development and production of a completely new space launch vehicle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with application owner, end-users, operations, and security leaders to ensure requirements are captured in the architecture design
  • Deploy MDM solutions (Autopilot) to facilitate mobility of our users while maintaining strong security over assets when deployed.
  • Deploy a dynamic and scalable Virtual Machine environment.
  • Knowledge and experience on how to build apps within the Microsoft Azure platform using Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Databases, Internet of Things, and AI+Machine Learning capabilities
  • Architect/Manager would show business acumen and is responsible for understanding the breadth and depth of client business processes, systems and requirements
  • Knowledge and experience on how to build apps within the Microsoft Azure platform using Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Databases, Internet of Things, and AI+Machine Learning capabilities
  • Knowledge and experience in programming using Microsoft .Net or other core development languages
  • Knowledge and experience of Azure DevOps best practices, models and techniques for team software development and deployments
  • SQL experience in data manipulation and transformation with the use of ETL tools such as SQL Server Management Studio
  • Web service experience using SOAP XML, REST JSON and other API integrations
  • Participate in business development activities to keep themselves productive and meet the business goals for billable targets
  • Responsible for facilitating discovery sessions client personnel to review current business processes/systems and document future-state architecture design solutions
  • Understand the client’s automation goals to support the development of software solutions to meet or exceed those goals
  • Architect software solutions using Microsoft Azure and 365 technologies to build data stores, user interfaces, and approvals/workflows consistent with client needs and project objectives
  • Must be able to work in a self-directed capacity and has experience interfacing with Executive Leadership
  • Work with clients to develop testing plans and scripts for Functional and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Ability to influence strategic client discussions and establish a “trusted advisor” relationship
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years' relevant experience in technologies with 3+ years related to cloud services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Storage, Virtual Networking, Inter-site Connectivity, Monitoring, Data Protection, Network Traffic Management, Azure Active Directory, Security Identities, Governance & Compliance, and Data Services among others
  • Experience managing Windows and MacOS
  • Knowledge of networking.
  • Experience with VMs, cloud-hosted environments, private/public/hybrid clouds, Microsoft Azure cloud services, including automation/infrastructure as a code
  • Experience working independently in a matrixed team
  • Experience producing strong written and oral communications skills to translate architecture solution to customers and business owners.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary
  • US Person as defined in 22 CRF Part 120.15 (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees and those given asylum in the United States, and temporary residents granted amnesty) since work includes ITAR controlled technical data


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience writing proposals and presenting up to C-Levels is a must
  • Preferably from Developer background (.net, Java, Python)
  • Expert Certification(s) in Microsoft Azure Level 3 or higher (e.g., at least one from Azure Architect Technologies, Security Technologies, DevOps Solutions)
  • Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with peers and upper management
