Purchasing Manager

This position is currently in Seattle, WA but will transition to Everett, WA by 2022.

Vaupell designs, engineers, and produces custom, high performance engineered plastic and composite components and assemblies for demanding applications. Position Summary:

Manages a team of buyers who are tasked with managing the procurement of materials and services required by Vaupell for specifically assigned Commodities/Vendors in a cost efficient and timely manner, while meeting Vaupell’s Supply Chain goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Develops and recommends to senior management purchasing policies for the division

· Manages the purchase of machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, services and supplies necessary for operation of the division

· Actively participates in vendor selection and purchasing of the most critical goods or services

· Oversees the maintenance of records of purchases, delivery dates, vendors, costs and other resources. Develops and approves plans to work out remedies for defective, late or unacceptable goods or services

· Manages the performance and results of direct reports

· Assists in design & implementation of tracking tools for process milestones and progress reports in supporting our customers’ requirements

· Demonstrates a technical aptitude to help with MRP and production system set up

· Assists, plans, prepares and executes sourcing strategies and operating plans supporting production and assembly in an Aerospace Industry

· Implements kan-bans and/or 2 bin systems at suppliers

· Executes global sourcing initiatives

· Designs reports & presentations for customers as required

· Utilizes Continuous Improvement strategies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

· Develops strategies for optimization of Supply Chain

· Leads inventory reduction and lead time reduction by using tools such as forecasting

· Focuses on long term agreements, ensuring successful releases/transitions/compliance

· Designs, develops, and initiates cost reduction projects from Supply Chain

· Champions internal and external compliance with agreements and uses SharePoint for documentation/audit purposes

· Assists in Quarterly Supplier Reviews as directed

· Ensures cost reduction goals are achieved and/or exceeded

· Develops metrics & performance feedback to drive buyer and supplier performance


· Previous experience in a Purchasing Manager role required, preferably in the plastics, aerospace, medical device or pharmaceutical industries, including familiarity with injection molding, machining, fabrication, and MRO

· Demonstrated capabilities in implementing change within organizations and delivering bottom line results

· Knowledge of leading operational management principles and concepts

· Project management experience to lead cross functional supply chain projects P

· revious experience with Epicor preferred


· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering, operations management, and/or business administration

· APICS certification preferred

· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, time management and computer skills

Qualification Guidelines

Candidates must be either US Citizens or US Persons to ensure Vaupell’s compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations.)
