Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Entry Level)

Varkas Law, PLLC, a boutique business litigation firm of 1 attorney and 1 paralegal, located in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, has an IMMEDIATE opening for a full-time, legal assistant/paralegal to assist the Firm with its new high volume consumer collections practice.

All candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. Self-motivated, punctual, and organized
2. Courteous with both clients and colleagues
3. Ability to assist in the drafting of basic legal documents like Complaints and Summons using form templates for attorney to review
4. Ability to calendar deadlines, hearings, and appointments/meetings
5. Ability to multi-task a high volume caseload duties such as data entry, document review, and detailed procedures
6. Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

A college/university degree is preferred, but not required, and recent college/university graduates are encouraged to apply.

The Firm has a both professional and amicable work atmosphere, and is conveniently located just off of Las Olas Blvd in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. As stated above, this opening is for an in-office position, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The legal assistant/paralegal will work alongside the attorney during most of the day.

The Firm is offering a base salary of $36,000.00 plus an additional $6,000.00 as a benefits compensation for a total yearly salary of $42,000.00 (employee is paid every two weeks on the 1st and 15th of each month). As the Firm's consumer collection practice grows over time, the Firm intends to offer bonuses to its legal assistants/paralegals, along with annual salary raises. The Firm is offering 10 paid vacation days after an initial 30 day employment period, along with paid federal holiday days. The Firm will also provide an initial, brief training period for the new legal assistant/paralegal upon hiring on the internal system used in the consumer collection practice. All candidates who apply may be subject to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check, and may be required to take basic training tests regarding security and filing handling for the Firm's clients.
