Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic individual for our Strategic Marketing Manager role. This is the global marketing head for the Business unit’s surfactants product lines, ensuring the BU is segmenting, targeting and positioning its solutions globally to maximize profitability and customer success. As a key member of the BU’s Commercial Group, the Strategic Marketing Manager works with customers and peers focusing on Oilfield, Industrial Specialties, Biofuels and Lubricants Target Markets. This critical role is key to the success of our Global Marketing & Business Intelligence activities. The individual in this position will have the opportunity for personal and career growth while developing improved processes for data management, market intelligence, market strategies and supporting decision making.

  • Develop 3-5-year market strategies for target markets and applications with Business Directors and SVP
  • Develop and implement with Sales Managers market segment analysis projects, market research
  • Develop customer portfolio analysis in conjunction with Product Manager, Business Directors and SVP
  • Visit and maintain contact with customers (existing and prospects), to be coordinated w/ the sales team, to develop and maintain market knowledge and gain an understanding of industry/customer requirements
  • Create market related presentations with input from commercial team
  • Manage Market Intelligence Database. Manage content and structure of the Market Database, ensuring its content reflects the market. Primary driver of updating efforts and commercial team compliance
  • Manage Forecasting Database. Primary driver of updating efforts and commercial team compliance
  • Coordinate, plan and execute additional marketing projects or activities as directed by Business Directors and SVP
  • Provide tools and recommendations for monthly results analysis by regional management, with a focus on bringing market intelligence data to the business results analysis and decision-making process
  • Supports NBD Projects for VPM, being the go-to person for market information, competitive activity and future trends. May lead specific NBD projects, under guidance from Business Directors and SVP


  • Ability to be a team player and work effectively across multiple internal business functions
  • Superior analytical and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have a college degree in Business, Chemistry, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of specialty chemical products, market and industry
  • Five years of sales, marketing, and/or experience in related field


  •  MBA preferred
