Job Description

Valley Ambulance Authority (VAA) is seeking a full time (Non-Exempt) Accounts Receivable Billing Specialist.

Background:
The Authority provides emergency and non emergency ambulance and wheelchair coverage to 15 communities in Western Allegheny County, along with providing services to several Military installations, Robert Morris University, and parts of the Pittsburgh International Airport.

The Billing Specialist is responsible for initiating and coordinating the clerical functions for the Authorities business office. Participates in the entry and submission of ambulance and medical transportation related claims, submitted either manually or electronically to patients, facilities, insurance companies, and government programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid. Post payments and other accounting related functions associated with receipt and deposits of reimbursement received from various sources.

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial insurances.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Receivable standards.
  • Experience with ZOLL technology solutions or other E.M.S related billing software systems is preferred.
  • EMS billing and/or ambulance operational background and experience is preferred.
  • Proficient typing skills and working knowledge of PC’s

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open, sort and distribute regular and electronic mail and other messages to company staff members.
  • Posting of payments related to accounts receivable using software and/or other electronic accounting ledgers.
  • Perform data entry of billing and patient related data with low error rate using PC Computer and customized EMS billing software.
  • Handle telephone inquiries related to accounts receivable, client requests, subscription issues and other business-related items.
  • Data entry and other functions related to the processing of ambulance subscription request and related databases.
  • Maintain accurate records and perform filing and other associated duties with the collection of insurance authorizations, medical necessity request forms, and other related documentation.
  • Perform data entry of billing and patient related data with low error rate using PC Computer and customized EMS billing software.
  • Be able to transfer thought, information, and/or observations into written sentences, and transfer verbal information into written form.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
