VETRO FiberMap is looking for a geospatial software engineer to join a young, growing team working on a scalable, geospatial mapping SaaS platform that will transform the way broadband providers plan, design, and operate their local and global networks. We come from a GIS and mapping applications background and focus our energy on map-based solutions using best fit geospatial libraries to get our work done. We are deeply involved in the Open Source geospatial (FOSS4G) community and have developed our stack using these technologies.

Our software engineers build map-based tools that allow Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to design, construct, and analyze their fiber optic networks. We do this with a strong emphasis on UX/UI coupled with deep geospatial and engineering functions. In short, we have made GIS and fiber optic network design easy to do.

What you will work on:

  • Expansion of geometric network and graph models - the basis of the fiber optic networks our customers work with;

  • Network based algorithms that support customer use cases;

  • Support of front end tools that allow users to edit and analyze the physical and optical networks; and

  • The construction and support of APIs that facilitate the integration of physical and optical network data with other systems and application

Why this position may interest you:

  • You are excited about working with a small team and being part of an early stage company;

  • You want to work on meaningful projects that have significant social impacts;

  • You have an interest in making GIS platforms intuitive and easy to use; and

  • You thrive in collaborative environments and like working on engineering and marketing based software solutions

What you need to bring:

  • You are a strong problem solver and can easily break complex issues down into simple pieces;

  • You are a full stack developer that loves to work on new things and learn fast;

  • You can easily learn stacks such as ours (AWS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Node.js, Leaflet, Vue);

  • You have a understanding of geometric network and/or graph models; and

  • You have a degree in CS, Engineer, Mathematics, or an advanced degree in Geographic Information Science
