ER Practice Manager
Summary
The ER department Practice Manager (PM) is responsible for coaching and managing the VCA AECC team to ensure a positive experience for our clients, patients and Associates. The PM will ensure the medical care team is well trained, productive, and has a strong feeling of worth. The PM ensures the medical care team understands and adheres to our values and the Mars Five Principles.

ER Practice Manager

Education and Experience Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine; specialty experience preferred
- Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred though not required
- Experience in leading, mentoring and coaching
Knowledge and Skills
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Positive, enthusiastic team leader
- Exceptional supervisory skills, able to provide feedback effectively

- Ability to positively influence and impact others through clear reasoned argument

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain an excellent and effective working relationship with all VCA AECC, VCA Leesburg Internal Medicine (LVIM), and The Life Center (TLC) veterinarians, support staff and management teams.
- Promote an enthusiastic and compassionate team oriented working environment
- Oversee medical care team's compliance with VCA policies, guidelines and protocols
- Oversee medical care team's activities to ensure quality patient care, positive staff relations/teamwork and efficient service
- Respond to and address client concerns
- Assist in hiring as coordinated with the Hospital Manager
- Oversee the orientation of newly hired team members on the following but not limited to;
- AECC mission statement, core values, VCA Values and Mars Five Principles
- Facility; physical structure, operation and services offered
- VCA policies and guidelines
- All aspects of VCA AECC operation
- Teamwork
- Equipment
- Record keeping
- Patient discharge
- Client communication
- Responsibilities
- Expectations
- Provide support in the training and retraining of current Associates
- Assist with the evaluation and performance review of Associates at the end of probation and on an ongoing basis
- During the probationary period, provide team members with feedback concerning their performance.
- Manage any team disciplinary actions necessary
- Prioritize tasks of team to maximize client satisfaction and patient health
- Participate in all team meetings
- Coordinate team meetings quarterly or as needed
- Coordinate team training as needed
- In coordination with the MD and HM, ensure an efficient doctor team schedule is kept and posted in a timely manner
- Ensure medical records, procedures and activities are compliant with VCA policy and AAHA standards as well as local, state and federal law
- Obtain CE as needed to improve own interpersonal, supervisory/managerial and communication skills as well as to keep any license(s) current.
