Job Description

Position Summary

The Account Manager will secure and grow Ushr’s customer accounts. Responsibilities include meeting or exceeding sales targets, providing a high-level of customer support, developing quotations, negotiating terms & conditions, sales planning, assembling market intelligence, and owning the sales life-cycle for assigned accounts; including pre-sales, marketing, communications, A/R, product positioning, CRs, and business extension.


Customer Interface:

  • Provide exceptional key account management from pre-sales to end-of-service for multiple accounts.
    • Anticipate and resolve customer-related issues promptly, with minimal management or staff support.
    • Negotiate complex and non-standard commercial issues
    • Know all relevant customer policies, procedures, priorities and trends.
  • Serve as an effective liaison between Ushr and its clients: communicate Client and Ushr requirements and objectives efficiently, with the drive and leadership skills to make progress for both companies.
  • Develop effective, credible, and reliable relationships with clients and all internal stakeholders through integrity, skill, individual effort, teamwork, and ownership.

Grow Revenue:

    • Execute systematic approaches with effective actions to new opportunities.
    • Internally, lead the Ushr quote team to present complete proposals on time. Close deals.
    • Understand Ushr’s technologies and business, and communicate interests and requirements concisely, accurately, and quickly.
    • Listen to client engineering and purchasing for all issues and interests, and communicate these accurately.
    • Manage short and long-term strategies to help Ushr remain competitive over time.
    • Opportunity management: Create and present opportunities for new business using all the tools: strategy, quantitative analysis, financial justifications, verbal/written communications, relationships, intuition, and emotion.
    • Price development: understand technology differences, internal costs, roadmaps, and market information to develop pricing & conditions.
    • As necessary, write statements of work and establish contract terms & conditions.
    • Enjoy solving diverse challenges inside compressed timeframes.

Account Control:

    • Achieves annual sales targets.
  • Maintains detailed account plans.
  • Executes sales operations flawlessly: forecasting, opportunity management, variance analysis, and support of an ISO-certified process.
  • Works with finance to arrange accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review contracts, develop positions, negotiate redlines, and take all appropriate actions in advance of agreement and/or contract expiration.


    • Partners with program management, engineering, marketing, and finance to respond to RFQs, RFIs, and CRs.
    • Teams with Program management to ensure smooth project control.
    • Marketing support: trade events, research, communications, etc.
    • Process support: identifies and implements kaizen activities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of sales and marketing activities; passes ISO audits.

Skills and Qualifications


  • BA/BS required. MBA preferred.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of Account Management experience in the automotive industry with Data Licensing business models. Suitable experience includes licensing Map Data, Software, or Services.
  • 5 years’ ADAS/AV component sales or licensing experience is required.
  • 5 years’ multi-cultural work experience required. NA + Japan/EU/Korea preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience negotiating T&Cs is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience presenting to C-Level is required.
  • Flawless command of American English in written and spoken form is required.
  • Second Language: Japanese, German, Korean or Arabic language proficiency is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines with ease and determination.
  • Intermediate+ skills in MS Excel required. A passing test result is required.
  • Experience using CRM preferred (e.g. Netsuite, Salesforce).

Work Environment

  • Office environment based in Ushr’s company headquarters in Livonia MI.
  • Business Travel to support customer and technical meetings (10%-20%).
