The Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Staff Generalist to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients.
For over 45 forty-five years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out-patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds. RAINBOW CLUB – Staff Generalist/Rehabilitation Counselor
Hours of Operation – Monday – Friday 9:00 am-5:00pm
This is a bilingual English Spanish speaking position to complement our diverse member and staff composition.
Rainbow Club is an innovative psychiatric rehabilitation program that assists its members to become increasingly involved and productive citizens in the community in which they live. The program operates on the Clubhouse International model where members and staff work side by side to achieve individual goals that include but not limited to the following: employment- transitional, supported and independent, education and supported education, referrals to vocational training, housing, recreation, entitlements and advocacy. The Club also provides a work ordered day where members and staff work in the culinary, maintenance, education and employment, reach out and membership units.
Job Description: Responsible for working with members in organizing tasks and projects for each unit of the work ordered day. Provide assistance and resources for employment and education, entitlements, participation and attendance and recommendations for leisure time community access. Manage a member caseload that includes service plans and monthly progress notes.
All work is provided in a manner that is person centered and is focused on recovery. Flexibility and the belief in rehabilitation and recovery is essential.
Education: A BA or BS in the Human Services Field is required. Experience and knowledge of the Clubhouse model is preferred but willingness to participate in Clubhouse model training will be considered.
