Job Description

Electronic Technician Opportunity: Our research lab has a full-time position with full benefits in the exciting space of neuroelectronics. We need a creative technician to take an important role in the assembly and testing of advanced neurosurgical tools. This can be part-time or full-time, but full-time position preferred.

Electronic Technician Qualifications: Applicants must have at least six years of work experience in electronics assembly or four years and a two-year degree. Skills should include some of the following: do-it-yourself (DIY) projects, small-scale manufacturing, multimeter testing, assembly under a microscope, soldering, solder reflow, electronics testing, data collection. A passion for the translation of medical device technology is desirable.

Certifications/Skills: Computer skills in Excel.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma and completion of approved training courses in electronics.

Translational Biomimetic Bioelectronics Lab (TBBL): Our mission is first-in-human demonstrations of the most advanced bioelectronics for the treatment of neurologic disease. We have several new, long-term positions available in the TBBL at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and located in the Rice University Neural Engineering program space. (www.seymourlab.org). We are also part of the Texas Institute for Restorative Neurotechnologies (TIRN).

World Class Environment: Applicants will benefit from a close interaction with our growing team and collaborating experts in the fields of materials science, mixed-mode circuits, and system design, neurosurgery, and machine learning. Our lab is also located in the Biosciences Research Collaborative at Rice University and part the Rice Neuroengineering Initiative, thus collaborations are possible with faculty at UTHealth, Rice University, and Baylor College of Medicine. Our front-end fabrication is performed at the Rice Nanofab facility.
