Assistant Professor of Special Education: Learning Disabilities
Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.
The School of Education, Human Performance, and Health seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant level to teach undergraduate courses focused on special education (Learning Disability emphasis) in a collegial and cooperative environment. The successful candidate will have a record of successful teaching, as well as an active research agenda in special education. In addition to advisement and field-based supervision responsibilities, the successful candidate will prepare future teachers in obtaining K-12 certification in Learning Disabilities through coursework that aligns with the CEC Core and LD Standards. Teaching responsibilities may include content delivery in the areas of Reading Disorders and Reading Methods, Language Disorders and Language Arts Methods, Behavior Management in Special Education, Assessment of Students with Disabilities, and/or Introduction to Exceptional Learners.

USC Upstate is seeking teacher-scholars who (i) have a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and (ii) show clear potential for scholarly research and publication. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement and active learning pedagogies, (e.g. service-learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application). Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses is a plus. Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in special education, with a focus on Learning Disabilities or closely related field; ABD Candidates with planned completion dates by August 15, 2020 will be considered. A minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in PK-12 classrooms in a Mild Disability area is required. A demonstrated interest in teaching at the undergraduate level and an emerging research agenda, with presentations and/or publications in special education or related fields are necessary qualifications. A successful background check is required.
