Job Description Summary
Assist in equipment and supply purchase and maintenance, preparation, set-up, and disassembly for educational wet labs for veterinary students. Assist the instructor in wet lab teaching and student clinical skill assessments. Equine, bovine, and small ruminant handling, restraint, physical examination, and minor clinical procedures. Coordinate procurement of animal necropsy specimens from the postmortem room for wet labs. Schedule and coordinate the student's schedules for laboratories. Assist researchers with large animal studies (animal handling, restraint, sample collection and processing). Data management via Excel spreadsheet and will assist with clinical studies that involve extracting data from medical records. Receive, process, maintain, and distribute TRH stocks for clinical cases. Assist with laboratory benchwork.

Job Description
Duties:
+ Assist in equipment and supply purchase and maintenance, preparation, set-up, and disassembly for educational wet labs for veterinary students.
+ Assist the instructor in wet lab teaching and student clinical skill assessments. 3) Have proficiency in equine, bovine, and small ruminant handling, restraint, physical examination, and minor clinical procedures including blood sampling, intravenous catheter placement, body fluid procurement.
+ Coordinate procurement of animal necropsy specimens from the postmortem room for wet labs.
+ Schedule and coordinate the students' schedules for laboratories.
+ Assist researchers with large animal studies (animal handling, restraint, sample collection and processing).
+ Be proficient in data management via Excel spreadsheet and assist with clinical studies that involve extracting data from medical records.
+ Assist with laboratory benchwork as needed. 9) Receive, process, maintain, and distribute TRH stocks for clinical cases.
+ Comply with regulations for animal care and use, hazardous material handling, and laboratory safety.

Qualifications
+ Research Specialist CS NBC A: Certified Veterinary Technician or has a bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related field, or has comparable large animal experience.
+ Research Specialist CS NBC B: Certified Veterinary Technician or has a bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related field, or has comparable large animal experience with an additional 1-3 years relevant experience.
+ Applicant must have excellent communication and organizational skills and should be willing and able to learn new techniques, have interest in teaching and in supporting the school's evolving teaching and research mission
+ Must be able to practice aseptic techniques.
+ Must be comfortable working with equine tissues and being around dismembered large animals in the large animal post mortem exam room.
+ Must work well in a team setting, and create a welcoming and supportive learning environment for students and other support staff involved in teaching and research activities.
+ Certified Veterinary Technicians encouraged to apply, but not required. Individuals without certification or degree, but with considerable large animal veterinary experience will be considered
+ Position requires Associate's or Bachelor's Degree Veterinary/Animal Science or a related field and large animal experience. Certified Veterinary Technicians encouraged to apply, but not required. Individuals without certification or degree, but with considerable large animal veterinary experience will be considered, minimum of a Associate's degree with 1-2 years of experience
