University Housing is a $68 Million educational and business department that is a self-sustaining, self-liquidating agency of the University (receives no tuition or tax support for its operating budget).Position SummaryThe Director of University Housing for Facilities Services provides overall leadership and supervision of the comprehensive maintenance, cleaning, updating, renewal, renovation, replacement and new construction of residence halls, furnishings, apartments, dining facilities and equipment, and grounds for University Housing. The Director provides departmental leadership and co-leadership for University Housing emergency and incident preparedness planning and management. The Director works closely with Safety and Risk Services, Emergency Management and Continuity to lead planning, management and coordination, (including development and keeping current emergency and crisis plans and appropriate training and exercises) to enable the University Housing to protect against, respond to, continue during, and recover from natural and human-caused emergencies.The Director, a key leadership position within University Housing, supervises approximately 6-8 professional officers of administration, and is responsible for approximately 100 trades/classified employees and approximately 200 seasonal and temporary staff who provide custodial and maintenance services for 10 residence halls housing approximately 5,000 students, approximately 430 apartments and family housing units, 6 residential dining facilities and numerous venues and 7 self-operated retail dining venues.
The various units represent approximately 1.9 million square feet of living/dining space and approximately 80 acres of grounds.The Director develops strong partnerships with other University offices and works collaboratively with a broad array of institutional stakeholders, partners and collaborators. In addition, the Director of University Housing for Facilities Services, oversees outside contracts for facilities maintenance, renovation, and new construction. The Director effectively works and collaborates with all University Housing units, including Residence Life, Human Resources, Business Services Operations, Dining Services, Information Technology, and University Housing Promo
