Clinician Scientist/Research Professor - Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Disorders
The Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a fellowship-trained (BE/BC) MD Clinician, or a Ph.D. Clinician, or a Ph.D. Researcher with an interest in Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Disorders Research.
In the fall of 2021, the University of Missouri will launch the NextGen Precision Health Institute, which will focus primarily on Cardiometabolic, Cancer, and Neuroscience research. The successful candidate for this search will join other world-class researchers and clinicians who will focus on bringing research to translational, precision medicine for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s, Neuromuscular, Addiction, and Sleep disorders. We particularly want to hear from candidates who are already involved in neurodegenerative disorders research and especially want to talk to candidates from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate may join with tenure or on a tenure track.
About MU Neurology:
MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, interventional and acute, chronic cerebrovascular disease, movement disorders, behavioral neurology, neurological intensive critical care, headache, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and pain medicine.

Opportunities to assist in the department's growth, the education of medical students, neurology residents, and neurology fellows, as well as research and scholarly activities.
If clinical faculty, call schedule:
Two weeks on, twice per year
Very light with residents taking first call
NO stroke or ICU call
All ranks available – commensurate with experience
All tracks available
As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include:
- A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU
- 14-bed Neurosciences ICU
- AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status
- Level IV Epilepsy program
- Level 1 Acute Stroke Center
- MDA/ALS clinics
- An accredited Sleep Program
- First Adult Certified Duchenne Care Center by PPMD.
Our academic programs include a neurology residency program and the following six accredited neurology fellowship programs:
- ACGME-Accredited Fellowship Programs
- Clinical Neurophysiology
- Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology
- Sleep Medicine
- Advanced Sleep Medicine
- Vascular Neurology
- UCNS-Accredited Fellowship Program
- Neuro Critical Care
In addition to clinical opportunities, the MU Center for Translational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory offers a vast array of academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs with 30+ clinical trials in Neurology.

BC/BE MD/DO, OR MD/Ph.D. Or Ph.D. Researcher
