The Technology Business Development Associate assists the Technology Business Development Manager with the daily administration of technology transfer, commercialization, and industry engagement activities.
The Associate assists the Manager by performing invention evaluations, compiling market research, patent searches and other related information; managing contracts, agreements and licenses; coordinating communication with intellectual property attorneys, consultants and company representatives, as necessary; and maintaining and reporting data. **Typical hiring range for this position is $35,183 to $58,639 commensurate with qualifications and experience.**

* Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Minimum one year of experience in academic technology transfer OR equivalent contracting experience in a research/innovation oriented company. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry clients, outside agencies, visitors, and members of the University faculty, staff, and administration. * Ability to think creatively about commercialization and partnership opportunities to achieve effective outcomes. * Must be highly organized. * Knowledge of the application of basic and applied research to innovation and new product development. * Experience in basic market research and patent searching. * Excellent communication and presentation skills. * Advanced technical and grant proposal writing skills and computer skills. * Ability to take both leadership and team support roles. * Ability to travel, normally requiring a valid driver's license.
* Demonstrated project management skills highly desirable. * Knowledge of Maine-based public and private, business and economic development agencies highly desirable.
