Coordinate the delivery and execution of health and fitness programs, events, and services. Plan and coordinate staff and volunteers. Monitor activities and provide reports on participation, safety, and compliance. Conducts needs assessments or surveys to determine interest in and satisfaction with programs. Make recommendations for program improvement. May lead workshops or provide direct instruction for employees and/or students.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Design, facilitate and implement campus health promotion efforts in developing health education content and skills training and to incorporate health promotion into academic research, courses and programs. Provide leadership and content expertise to build health education programs and skills training resources for students, faculty and staff. Implement effective peer health, peer educator, and peer advocacy training and outreach programs Social media presence, develop social media campaigns, assist with advising PHLs and Graduate Assistant. Ensure implementation of strategies for training to faculty, staff and students regarding the prevention and identification of wellness concerns. Identify and develop effective relationship with campus and off-campus stakeholders to achieve a comprehensive campus-wide response toward campus wellness integration. Utilize data from trends in college health policy (including mental health and overall wellness) to implement programming and best practices for health promotion and prevention with students, faculty and staff (curricular/co-curricular). Ensure timely reporting of data. Implement programming which reflects transformative learning goals and student learning outcomes through proactive, evidence-based prevention programs and initiatives. Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of student information that may be collected through health assessment, programming, onsite screenings or other health promotion activities. Requires a university degree in related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen filed that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of health education, health promotion, public health, and prevention. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
Prefer Master’s degree in health education, health promotion, public health or related field. A minimum of three years' work experience in health education, health promotion, wellness programs or related field with focus on planning, program development, innovation, program prioritization and assessment. Demonstrated success in assessing student learning, health behavior change, and conducting best practices research and outcomes measurement. Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated success in written communication and presentations. Experience conducting individual, community, and /or environmental needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions. Experience conducting process and outcome-based program evaluations, interpreting findings, and developing plans to respond programmatically to evaluation data. Knowledge and skills in developing ad implementing environmental management strategies/ecological model. Knowledge of budget and financial management. Demonstrated skills in social marketing and health communications strategies. Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications. Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience working in higher education. Two years' experience win training or working with students of college age.
Demonstrated knowledge of prevention, particularly as it relates to substance use prevention, suicide prevention, interpersonal violence prevention.
Experience in the design and implementation of data driven, evidence-based, research driven prevention programs.
Demonstrated experience in supervision of others in volunteer or employment capacities.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated presentation skills.
Experience in the operation of microcomputers and software such as Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, Planner and Access. Must have a demonstrated ability to be a self-starter. Two years of experience in a health education or case management environment.
