Position Description:
UCLA Extension is the self-supporting continuing education division of the University of California Los Angeles. Each year we deliver 4,500+ classes and non-degree certificate programs to more than 35,000 domestic and international students from the greater Los Angeles region and beyond.

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Budget & Financial Services (BFS), the Senior Financial Planning Analyst plays a key role in budget development, financial analysis, and decision-making support for UCLA Extension. As part of a collaborative team providing accounting and financial management support to both academic and administrative departments, the incumbent has oversight on budgets ranging from 5 to 20 million dollars (for assigned departments) and is responsible for coordination, analysis, and reporting of overall institutional budgets.

Primary responsibilities include: planning and preparation of annual budgets, variance analysis, forecasting, and summary financial reports to organization leadership. The incumbent also provides analyses for client departments regarding pricing, program development, staffing, capital projects, and other key business decisions, and conducts ad hoc analyses of new program, contracts/grants, and other proposals.

The incumbent also provides accounting support including the preparation of journal entries; interpretation, analysis, and research of GL transactions; preparation of financial and ad hoc reports; and execution of monthly close and fiscal year-end activities.
