Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health, Counseling & Wellness

### Position Information
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Health, Counseling & Wellness (AVCHCW) will report to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and have the responsibility of providing leadership and oversight for the administration, development and assessment of student health and wellness services on campus. This includes student success initiatives related to: psychological counseling; student health; disability services; recreational sports; fitness programs; and wellness activities. The AVCHCW will provide strategic direction and leadership to the following departments in the Division of Student Affairs: Student Health; Counseling and Psychological Services; the Well; Case Management; Student Disability Resource Center and Student Recreation. The AVCHCW will have an integral role in overseeing, organizing and integrating the staffing, programs, resources and initiatives of the departments that comprise the student health, counseling and wellness Cluster; and leading the university in creating a strong and active wellness culture on campus that enhances student success while facilitating the development of lifelong wellness self-management skills. This entails the establishment of a close collaboration with Academic Affairs and other key campus partners. The salary range for this position is $120,900 to $238,100, however it is currently budgeted up to Midpoint, or $179,500, annually. Please note: Candidates may be recorded when interviewed for viewing by the interview panel. Candidates will be required to present a vision seminar.

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Advanced degree.
A doctorate degree in health care administration, public administration, health systems management, medicine, clinical or counseling psychology, nursing, or other related field

10 - 15 years of related experience.
Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
### Minimum Requirements
Ability to elicit cooperation, open productive communication, and involvement of others in the decision-making process to increase staff effectiveness to foster imaginative and creative solutions to solve problems.
Highly experienced and skilled at planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities appropriate to the advancement of organizational goals.
Demonstrated advanced oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge and practical experience with development and implementation of comprehensive student health and well-being programs in a university setting. Knowledge of the social, psychological, and physical development stages of students, and knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of student development and learning theory. Passion for and experience with an integrated approach to student health and well-being in a university or similarly decentralized setting.
Advanced knowledge of the principles and practice of supervision and management.
Ability to set specific, measurable, realistic goals for the division, each department, and individual staff members. Identify, define, and evaluate problems and plan and develop appropriate long-term and immediate strategies and solutions.
Advanced knowledge of business process reengineering, organizational planning and communications.
Must be computer literate.
Ability to prepare and manage a budget; make realistic and equitable fiscal decisions; and prepare cogent budgetary and annual reports. Analyzing short- and long-term fiscal needs and addressing them through systematic analysis and implementation of revenue-generating options including fees grants, and fund-raising efforts.
Skilled at managing workforce diversity issues.
Ability to manage multiple Student Services departments, in the areas of health, counseling and wellness, and to effectively direct and lead staff including the ability to manage a complex, multidisciplinary division and achieve the integration of services offered by separate units. Ability to conceptualize complex processes and to define the relationship among various parts.
Highly experienced with demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
Must be able to collaborate with medical staff members and others across campus, both internal and external, at all levels in the organization on matters of significance.
Advanced knowledge of HR-related policies and procedures. Knowledge of union contracts and preparation of contract negotiations, in consultation with Human Resources.
Advanced knowledge of budget/fiscal related processes.
Must have project management and organizational leadership skills.
### Preferred Qualifications
In-depth understanding of policy issues related to higher education health care programs.
Knowledge of strategic funding of health care programs and operations, public relations, and marketing, fundraising.
Advanced knowledge of health care administration and systems.
Advanced knowledge of student health care administration and systems.
