Position Summary:The University of Alaska Southeast invites applications for a non-tenure track position, one year Term Assistant Professor of Health Sciences for AY18-19. We are seeking applicants with a combination of health industry experience and credentials, and ability to provide qualified instruction in health sciences, including the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. This is a bipartite position that supports the University of Alaska mission of performing both teaching and public service. 100Train students in basic skills needed to assist nurses and to be efficient health care team members. Teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) classes. Teach undergraduate health science courses as needed in a manner consistent with the specific course content description. Hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught, be proactive in developing and modifying curriculum as appropriate, and provide University service as assigned.Essential
Required Education & Experience
+ Two years of nursing experience (minimum) and demonstrated ability to instruct various Health Sciences courses, including Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) classes.
+ Bachelor's degree in a related health sciences field at time of appointment.
+ Alaska Registered Nurse under AS08.68, or meet the qualifications to be a registered nurse in Alaska.
+ Previous teaching experience is preferred.
+ Experience working successfully with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including first-generation and non-traditional students is preferred.
+ Strong interpersonal and public-speaking skills.
+ Experience working with private and public external constituencies.
+ Demonstrated ability to advocate for both the School of Career Education Health Sciences programs and UAS.
+ Knowledge of occupational health and safety in providing health services.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
This is a 9-month, part-time (60 hours per pay), one-year term faculty appointment, with a competitive salary and fullbenefitspackage.
