Job Description


JOB DUTIES: Design, develop, and implement scalable software development platforms and processes as part of enterprise projects and solutions to support a wide variety of clinical research informatics, translational science informatics, Clinical Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and clinical research data access infrastructure. Deploy and support applications in Linux server environments for production use. Use front end (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and back end (Java) programming languages in the development and implementation of custom software development projects. Use standard software development processes including requirements gathering, functional and technical specification development, and software development. Design and develop web-based application supporting different institutional entities, including a variety of research departments, centers, and institutes. Develop data delivery models and systems for delivery of aggregate and de-identifying patient related data to adhere to policy through front end and back end programming languages. Apply knowledge and understanding of HIPAA, and IRB policies as well as security requirements to system design and implementation in order to maintain technical consistency with institutional research policies in clinical research informatics applications and infrastructure. Apply knowledge and understanding of the use and representation of clinical vocabularies and ontologies and their use for cohort and dataset generation in support of clinical investigators, and the representation of clinical notes and the use of Natural Language Processing in phenotype and cohort detection. Collaborate directly with clinical and research personnel for determination and documentation of operational needs, workflows, and design considerations, and development of functional and technical specifications focused on meeting those clinical research workflows and needs. Enhance, deploy, and produce support of software for instructor-based biomedical ontology and vocabulary training applications used by both students and instructors. Use PHP programming language as well as database integration. Participate in grant funding opportunities to enhance clinical research informatics infrastructure and services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or informatics plus two years of experience as an informatics analyst, software developer, or similar.
