Determine competitive wage rates and develop or modify compensation plans. Evaluate employee and retiree benefits and policies to assess whether they are current, competitive, and legal. Choose and manage outside partners such as benefits vendors and investment brokers. Coordinate and supervise the work activities of analysts, specialists and support staff. Oversee the distribution of pay and benefits information to the organization's employees. Ensure that pay and benefits plans comply with federal and state regulations. Prepare a program budget and keep operations within budget. Accountability is monitored through direct observations, achievement of goals, and customer feedback.
EducationBachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Master's degree preferred.Licensure/CertificationCCP (Certified Compensation Professional), CBP (Certified Benefits Professional, or PHR (Professional in Human Resources) preferred.ExperienceSeven years progressive human resources experience required, three of which have been in Compensation/Benefits Administration. Healthcare industry experience is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated advanced knowledge of compensation/benefits administration practice and theory.Demonstrated knowledge of health care issues and trends.Demonstrated knowledge of HR issues and trends, along with the ability to apply new concepts and initiate change.Demonstrated knowledge of principles of customer service and customer satisfaction.Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills.Proficiency in multiple software applications including word processing and electronic spreadsheet and graphics utilities. Expertise in spreadsheet design, formula application and database administration. Basic understanding of HRIS systems.Demonstrated skills in multiple problem-solving models and data analysis.Demonstrated ability to effectively select, train, lead, and develop/coach staff, implementing positive interventions as needed for behavior changes.Demonstrated ability to think critically, prioritizes multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and accomplish detailed work with accuracy and clarity.Demonstrated knowledge of TJC, FLSA, ADA and other human resources-related regulations, policies, and laws.Demonstrated ability to work independently, displaying initiative and versatility.Demonstrates problem-solving and leadership skills. Uses independent judgment and collaborative decision-making.
