Responsible for coordinating and maintaining active employee/retiree benefits, 403b, welfare and section 125 plans, voluntary benefit products etc. Key functions include customer service, answering questions related to benefits of active employees, terminated employees, and retirees. Assists employees with their medical, dental, vision, group life, death claims, short- and/or long-term disability, flexible savings, retirement, Medicare Supplement, etc. plans or refers them to the appropriate vendor representative. Responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of a thorough auditing process of all benefit plans to include timely plan corrections. Responsible for benefits expense tracking and trending. Presents training, new hire orientation and education sessions as needed. Ensures all related activities are performed in compliance with applicable legal regulations and hospital policies/procedures.
EducationBachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Management/Administration. Associates degree plus two years progressive human resources experience can be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.Licensure/CertificationPHR (Professional in Human Resources) designation preferred.ExperienceFour years progressive human resources experience required.Benefits, Compensation, and/or Rewards and Recognition experience, preferably in the healthcare industry, is strongly desired.The incumbent must have extensive experience with Microsoft office software applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent customer service skills to deal effectively with employees, managers, administrators, vendors, and retirees.Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all data.Strong organizational skills including prioritization required.Ability to make sound decisions and problem-solve.Basic analytical ability to interpret information regarding employee benefits.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Ability to work under stress and to meet deadlines.Demonstrates ability to complete tasks in an orderly and efficient manner.Demonstrated knowledge of TJC, FLSA, ADA, and ERISA and other human resources-related regulations, policies, and laws.Physical DemandsAbility to move throughout the hospital to accomplish duties.
