Job Description

The Senior Accountant will perform analysis of data presented in financial statement reports, analyze the impact of GAAP requirements/transactions and assist with the maintenance/development of policies and procedures to meet USRA objectives and Government compliance regulations. This position will prepare interim financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) and maintain appropriate accounting records, policies, procedures and internal control documentation. This position will carry out all critical general and cost accounting tasks, fixed assets, cash application, accruals, account reconciliations, as well as serving a key role between internal and external customers and auditors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is to prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close and year-end schedules.
  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures, and account reconciliations.
  • Support external and DCAA audits
  • Develop and document business processes and practices to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Research technical accounting issues
  • Support the preparation of Incurred Cost reporting
  • Review and prepare budget variance reporting for indirect and unallowable costs
  • Assist in preparing state, federal, and local tax filing (990, property, sales tax)
  • Oversee the administration of corporate insurance


Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Finance or a related field

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10 yrs. of experience in accounting with strongly utilized analytical skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the government contracting industry is required.
  • Familiar with DCAA Audits and processes.
  • Knowledge of FAR and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) Regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Strong Excel skills, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Deltek Cost Point and Cognos software preferred.
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant license preferred

Working Conditions:

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Extensive online usage. Keyboarding for large time spans each day will be a significant part of this position.
