Thin Film Coating Technician

A Universal Thin Film Lab Coating Technician provides technical and hands-on development to production and advance programs to ensure project completion is on schedule and within budget. The Coating Technician also recommends and implements improvements to processes, methods, and controls.

· Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·

• Operates coating equipment for the production and development of Thin Film coatings
• Performs chamber and materials preparation, substrate cleaning and loading, and coating startup and finish
• Reviews schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities
• Supports the responsibilities of accurate recording of coating data and material logs
• Monitors coating and chamber parameters to ensure the process is under control
• Remains alert to tool and chamber behavior and notifies maintenance of any equipment issues
• Interfaces with engineering for development processes

· Operates spectrophotometer, microscope, other general lab instruments

Qualifications and Education Requirements

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

• Hands on experience in manufacturing operations and an understanding of manufacturing documentation and quality practices
• Working knowledge of cleanroom protocol(s).
• Ability and discipline to follow established procedures
• Attentive to detail and ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Open availability; must be able to work second shift
• Displays exemplary ethics and business conduct and performs work cognizant of safe work practices
