Job Description
OVERVIEW:
Reporting to and serving under general supervision the CEO, the Director of Finance provides fiscal leadership and oversight to critical operational & administrative functions, including: Programs & Services, Finance, Facilities, Contracts, Compliance, and Information Technology (i.e. hardware, administration of electronic health records system, data management across various systems). S/he will have advanced organizational skills, business acumen, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The incumbent will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and Operational Leadership Team defining, shaping and driving strategic initiatives to advance the health and success of the agency.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Fleet & Facilities (partnership with Housing)
- Information Technology (Vendors)
- Minimum of 7-10 years of financial analysis experience related to developing operating budgets and completing actual-to-budget variance analysis.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and advance accounting, or equivalent experience, in finance or accounting.
- Nonprofit accounting expertise, government and foundation grant reporting, supervisory skills required.
- Knowledge of financial theories / methodologies, accounting principles, statistical theories, applications, and accounting / forecasting systems.
- Experience in full cycle accounting, closing the books, leading audits, developing annual budgets, cost reporting (mental health) and metrics development for a major organization.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
- Ability to identify risk and opportunities, and lead performance enhancement initiatives.
- Knowledge of MIP accounting system.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Offices applications.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, computer and written communication skills
- Valid CA driver’s license
- Fingerprint clearances and any other regulatory clearances necessary for the position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA/CMA or Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience managing children’s services.
- Experience prioritizing and managing projects
- Strong affinity for identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and using data to measure performance
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire, train and supervise accounting staff; oversee Account Payables, Accounts Receivables, Payroll and monthly Board reports.
- Manage financial operations, financial recordkeeping, and prepare financial statements.
- Utilize MIP accounting system, and provide on-going MIP training with accounting staff.
- Prepare budgets, complying with financial requirements of public and private grants as well as government taxing authorities.
- Partner with the Operational Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team to identify primary strategic initiatives necessary to advance the agency’s goals and impact for fiscal solvency.
- Ensure fiscal solvency, managing expense lines and generating revenue streams wherever possible.
- Partner with and train program director/managers to promote budget ownership and fiscal discipline.
- Represent the agency with community stakeholders, county partners and others to ensure confident fiscal leadership within Unity Care.
- Carry out directions, decisions, philosophies as established by CEO and Board of Directors.
Information Technology
- Manage vendor relationship with Team Logic to maintain IT infrastructure, cloud service storage, physical equipment, etc.
- Manage vendor contract in partnership with Finance team.
- Oversee assignment and deployment of contracted Fleet and Facility Services ensuring safety and performance protocols, maintenance, and repair; ensure all facility needs are met, including but not limited to: management of leases, facility maintenance, agency vehicle fleet maintenance and repair, housing standards, landscaping, and related vendor management.
