Setup and operate manual and CNC machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, saws, hones, etc. as required without supervision to machine a wide variety of aerospace hardware to very close tolerances
Machine precision aerospace hardware from a variety of materials including, stainless steel, aluminum, tool steel, carbon steel, etc.
Reads and interprets drawings, sketches and blueprints including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Sets up machine shop equipment and machines a wide variety of hardware as requested
Interprets Manufacturing Work Orders, Re-work Instructions, and work requests to complete work as assigned
Works with engineers and machine mechanics as required to gain understanding/clarification as needed of drawings and Machine Shop Work Requests. Sets up and operates tool room equipment such as lathes, mills and precision grinders.
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances in accordance to specifications. Selects, aligns, and secures grinding wheels, holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining parameters, such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut.
Perform various miscellaneous and non-standard duties as required.
Must adhere to all EH & S regulations and policies as well as attend related training courses.
Follow the EH & S roles and responsibilities in accordance with the Interiors Policy PHA 1.8.24.
Setup and operate CNC mills, Machining Centers and/or Lathes to produce a variety of complex aerospace hardware to close tolerances. Machine and assemble components to produce a variety of tooling, fixtures and gages.
Daily usage of all company data collection mechanisms (AutoTime, Certified Materials and Mag Audits)
Conduct self-quality audits / perform first piece inspections, and subsequent inspections on all work.
Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed with TPM boards kept up-to-date.
Maintains a neat and well-organized work area.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Machine Shop Technology degree preferred (Journeyman, Tool & Die Certification, CNC qualification)
High degree of knowledge of a wide variety of cutting tools such as but not limited to mills, drills, carbide inserts and a variety of tool steels.
Must be able to work in a team environment and be a strong team member.
Ability to read and interpret detail blueprints. Ability to read, understand and comply with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances Strong shop math skills.
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to successfully operate machine shop equipment (not limited to): Manual Lathe, Manual Mill, Surface Grinders, Pedestal Grinders, Drill Press, C.N.C. Lathe, CNC Machining Center, CNC vertical mill, Cam Software, vertical band saw, horizontal band saw, and hone. Ability to program, set-up and operate CNC equipment including mills, lathes and machining centers.
Ability to perform quality work with minimum supervision.
Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
Perform inspection of work produced.
Work in a safe manner and follow all safety practices/requirements.
Demonstrate creativity and innovation in work duties.
Willing to work overtime
