General Summary The Controller position is a management position that is responsible for overseeing the daily operational and compliance aspects of the Finance Department. Performa all job responsibilities as noted below including the daily supervision of the Finance employee(s), in a manner that will ensure compliance with regulatory framework as well as all Credit Union policies and procedures.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
+ Ensures liquidity levels meet the Credit Union's needs while maximizing income.
+ Prepares and ensures the maintenance and accuracy of the ALLL model.
+ Works directly with ALM vendor to produce ALM/IRR reporting for analysis and strategy development.
+ Provide back-up to the Accounting Department for completing the NCUA 5300 Call Report. Ensures accuracy of the NCUA 5300 Call Report.
+ Interfaces with outside auditors and NCUA examiners. Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of audit/exam documents as requested.
+ Prepares the operating budget for the Finance Department and assists the CFO with the preparation of the credit union's annual operating budget.
+ Prepares and provides accurate and timely finance reports for management and the Board of Directors.
+ Ensures procedures are maintained and kept current for the Finance department and related activities.
+ Works closely with the Director of Accounting and the Accounting Department to ensure that all accruals are in accordance with GAAP and FASB.
+ Working closely with the Director of Accounting, performs quality control review of all general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and verification of proper supporting documentation.
+ Meet established department goals with minimal supervision; update supervisor/leader on all major projects, employee issues and goal progress.
+ Ensure Finance Department employment needs are met including timekeeping, annual performance evaluations, scheduling, training, motivation and coaching in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
+ Perform job interview/hiring process for employee vacancies as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Education:A bachelor's degree in Accounting required. Advanced degree in a business-related field preferred. Experience: 7+ year's of progressive management experience in a financial institution or corporation of a similar or larger size. Skills: Strong math, accounting and analytical skills required. Self-starter that can work independently with great attention to details. Ability to identify correlation between various groups of financial data. Strong ability to gather, analyze and present financial, statistical and economic data in a clear and concise fashion. Proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Communication: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others is essential.
