General Labor-1st Shift

Overview

Reporting directly to the yard lead or operations supervisor, the General Laborer is responsible for manually processing scrap material.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work at a vigorous and consistent pace to process materials.
  • Visually identify, grade and manually separate and sort scrap metal of various odd shapes, sizes and weights from other debris and place scrap metal into piles or containers.
  • ear assigned personal protective equipment appropriate to his/her assigned task including reflective vest, hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, steel-toed boots, long sleeve shirt and long pants.
  • Work outdoors in extreme heat or cold, dusty, dirty and/or wet conditions.
  • Work full-time in standing position – at least 40 hours per week.
  • Walk long distances outdoors in recycling yard on uneven, unpaved ground in all forms of weather.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and work cooperatively with others.
  • Comprehend and comply with work instructions.
  • Comprehend and comply with Company safety policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Meet flexible scheduling requirements including overtime and sixth day of work as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operation.
  • Complete all other duties as may be assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe workspace.
  • Attend daily toolbox talks and other required safety training.
  • Complete minimum team member handbook and safety training requirements including:
  • US-F11 QEH&S Policy
  • US-SOP-01 United in Safety Manual
  • US-SOP-03 Team Member Handbook
