Project Engineer Construction/ Rough Carpentry

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Project Engineer to be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in management, engineering and technical disciplines that involve our rough carpentry construction projects. Employee will work in conjunction with the project manager to schedule, plan, forecast, assign resources and manage activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.

The position involves use of effective oral and written communication and presentation skills; interpersonal skills; analytical and problem solving skills; creative/innovative thinking skills; computer skills; and ability to travel to jobsites within the DC Metro area.

Project Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work with other trades as required in the field
  • Coordinate employees in the field and direct as needed and in accordance with schedule
  • Implement quality management techniques and structured approach
  • Prepare schedules, coordinate and monitor the assigned projects
  • Monitor and enforce compliance to applicable codes, safety, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
  • Monitor and process submittals, RFIs and shop drawings in a timely manner
  • Attend weekly trade contractor meetings, prepare agenda/meeting minutes
  • Consult with project manager to review, approve and process trade contractor billings for payment
  • Perform scope take-offs and assist in putting together project bids
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support
  • Work with project manager to closeout project in a timely manner (punch list, warranties, substantial completion, finalize job accounting, etc.)
  • Work with project manager to review all correspondence from owner, consultants, and trade contractors and provides timely responses consistent with the best interest of companyWork with project manager to review and assist with specific buy out scopes for all trade contractors; develop scopes/bid packages for buyout to cover any gaps in the estimates
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Have flexible hours
  • Other duties as assigned
