We have a full time position available for a RN, LPN or CMA for our Famlly Practice Clinic in West Des Moines, Iowa. UCS Healthcare is a CARF-accredited, non-profit health care organization based in West Des Moines, Iowa with additional offices in Knoxville and Ankeny and medication units across the state offering medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opiate/alcohol addiction. We offer a competitive hourly wage.
Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
Reports To: Nursing Supervisors
Function: To provide comprehensive nursing/medical care within scope of practice to clinic patients by cooperating with other medical professionals in a team environment, while maintaining professional nursing/medical standards. Operates in alignment with UCS Healthcare core values. Is a team player, provides patient centered care and strives to provide the highest level of care.
General Duties: Includes but are not limited to:
- Follow all Federal, State of Iowa, and agency policies and laws, including those pertaining to patient confidentiality, including HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2 and CARF requirements.
- Promotes nursing/medical assisting practices and patient care that is effective in terms of quality, cost, and patient satisfaction.
- Supports the values and philosophy of UCS Healthcare as well as the mission, vision, and behaviors of service excellence.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence, maintaining licensure and certificates.
- Documents accurately in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates competence in specified computer applications.

Specific Duties: Are not limited to the following but deemed by Program:
- Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner within scope of practice.
- Rooms patients and accurately assesses vital signs and reason for visit.
- Administers medications and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Performs venipuncture while maintaining safety standards.
- Triage phone calls appropriately reporting to RN or provider.
- Appropriately schedule patients within physicians requested parameters.
- Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner by utilization of pre-determined standards and evidenced-based practices that define the structure, process and desired patient outcomes.
- Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols.
- Accurately calls in/e-scribes medications in a timely manner.
- Completes Prior Authorizations and Referrals as needed
- Implements educational materials and evaluates their effectiveness.
- Participates in orientation of new personnel.
- Other duties as assigned in all programs within scope of practice
- Document program specific data collection (Methasoft)
- Document program specific data into CareLogic
- Implement and maintain Opioid Treatment Standards within CARF, state. Federal and agency rules and regulations
- Coordinates care within other areas of the clinic.
- Other duties as assigned to include but not limited to:
- Monitor patients as they dose to prevent diversion
- Collection of urinalysis
- Perform Breathalyzer testing
- Keep dosing area and urinalysis restroom clean and orderly
- Obtain vital signs on patients
- Scanning and uploading documents
- Inform nursing staff of patient needs
- Count patient prescription pills and notify nurse of inconsistencies
- Coordinate the functions to maintain and distribute accurate medical records
- Setting up new MAT patients in methasoft, and entering orders as needed.
- Places orders and flags in Methasoft for MAT treatment

Preferred Education and Experience: Previous medical office experience preferred. Experience working with pediatric clients is a plus!
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Venipuncture skills required.
Licenses: Licensed as LPN/RN in good standing
Work Schedule:Full-time, Monday - Friday 8:30-5
