Forensic & Design Engineers (multiple positions)

Unified Building Sciences & Engineering, Inc. (UBSE) is an engineering firm specializing in forensic and design services to insurance and adjusting companies, architects, attorneys, building management firms, and manufacturers. We are seeking engineers to fill the following full-time positions:

FORENSIC STRUCTURAL ENGINEER duties will include performing evaluations, surveys, and investigations of buildings and other structures and preparing reports of findings. May need to research technical publications and literature to support evaluations. May also prepare plans and details for remedial repairs. Position requires occasional overnight travel.

Desired Skills
• Experience with testing equipment to perform assessments
• Knowledge of building systems and materials
• Ability to work outdoors to perform duties associated with building evaluation
• Good communication skills, oral and written

STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER duties will include reviewing architectural plans, performing design calculations, developing structural drawings and details, coordinating with architectural and other disciplines, as well as providing construction phase services such as submittal review, site inspections, and responses to RFIs.

Desired Skills
• Working knowledge of building codes
• Structural design experience
• Development of drawings and details
• Communication skills to effectively work with clients
• Ability to work independently

MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS duties will include preparing accurate, concise, and unbiased reports outlining the cause and origin of damages to clients in a timely manner and in layman’s terms. May need to research technical publications and literature to support evaluations. Position requires occasional overnight travel.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of building systems and materials to identify failures, damages, or defects to mechanical/electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential properties.

  • Knowledge of building materials, field investigation methods, and scientific principles as they relate to mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of building codes.

  • Ability to work outdoors to perform inspections and building evaluations.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    A Bachelor’s Degree in one of the above engineering disciplines and 2 years practical experience is preferred; however, we are interested in speaking with qualified candidates of all experience levels.
