SENIOR TECHNICAL WRITER / EDITOR (FHA-MCS-19-0444-W):
Bowhead is seeking a senior Technical Writer/Editor for our Department of Transportation Team to research, organize, write, edit and produce technical data in a wide variety of publications. The Technical Writer/Editor ensures technical documentation is accurate,
complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
Essential functions of the Technical Writer/Editor include, but are not limited to:
Recommend overall organization and layout, editorial standards, and publication methods for various customer data.
Review submissions for accuracy and adherence to style guidelines necessary for publication.
Coordinate publication with outside sources and vendors as needed.
Establish strong collaborative relationships with coworkers and customers. May provide work leadership for lower level employees.
Develop and maintain knowledge of current DoT policies and processes, ensuring accuracy of content and compliance with DoT policies.
Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred with a combination of education and work experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Minimum of seven (7) years' technical writing, proofreading and documentation preparation experience is required.
Experience with Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including familiarity with SharePoint is required, PLUS the ability to
-- Learn new software/applications/processes quickly with the ability to train others on their usage.
-- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts and strong interpersonal skills with good judgment and problem solving skills.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: A public trust clearance is required for this position. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
