Job Summary: To plan, manage, direct, coach the work of supervisory and hourly employees engaged in the casting and processing of ductile iron pipe including: SD Cores, Casting, Annealing, Pipe Run, Zinc and restrain joint welding. Key measurements will be safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity vs. plan. Supervises the work of supervisory and hourly employees to ensure that working procedures are followed to provide consistent high quality ductile iron pipe products in accordance with company, industry, national and/or international standards and customer requirements. Uses daily Leader Standard Work to facilitate these activities. Monitors, reviews and evaluates daily, weekly and monthly production, cost, labor and material usage data; identifies problems and implements corrective actions. Works closely with Continuous Improvement staff to facilitate the creation, modification and implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies to improve processes, productivity and efficiency. Mentors, participates in and/or facilitates Kaizen events and PPS projects. Assures required materials, labor and equipment are available for continuous operations Works with other Managers to maintain efficient production; immediately informs needed parties of any potential/actual production delays/shutdowns and works cooperatively toward problem resolution. Assures that all plant and safety rules and policies are enforced and that violators are disciplined in a fair and consistent manner, assists supervision with daily administration of the collective bargaining agreement and attends grievance and other employee meetings as required. Manages the size, age and accuracy of product in semi-finished inventories. Responsible for coordinating Semi inventories to maintain its accuracy. Assures that both supervisory and hourly employees are properly trained and qualified, identifying training and development needs and assisting in the design and implementation of programs to meet these needs. Additional Functions: Performs other duties as assigned.Skills & RequirementsSkills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, and/or related field is required. Masters degree is a plus. Also requires a minimum of 5 - 7 years of previous supervisory or management experience in a heavy union or non-union fast paced manufacturing environment is required. Previous ductile iron products experience with a good understanding of production operations or similar manufacturing operation is required. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus.Casting, Cold Box Core production and Annealing operation is desired. Proven management and supervisory experience are required. Ability to plan and direct the work of salaried supervisory and hourly personnel and to train and develop an effective workforce. Training and experience leading self directed teams is a plus Strong oral and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Strong presentation and public speaking skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines. Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs. Good understanding of safety and the desire to following all established procedures are required. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint software. Previous SAP, Minitab, SharePoint knowledge is a plus.Qualifications
