Sr. Underwriter - Excess Liability or Primary General Liability

The role of a Sr. Underwriter is to evaluate and write new and renewal policies within a designated letter of authority. The individual will underwrite a broad range of industries within our General Casualty business segment. Industries include (but not limited to) manufacturing, wholesale/distributors, retail & real estate. In addition to developing broker relationships, this role also serves as a mentor to other underwriters and associate underwriters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates within defined level of authority
- Ensure accuracy when comparing submissions against Underwriting guidelines
- Executes on production responsibilities & pricing strategy while maintaining underwriting discipline
- Properly structure casualty programs with appropriate terms & conditions
- Leverage knowledge of market conditions and competitive landscape in the Underwriting process
- Responsible for cultivating, developing, and maintaining broker relationships
- Provides assistance when required during internal audits
- Provides assistance when required with reinsurance agreements
- Mentor peers of less tenure
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years Underwriting experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical and negotiating skills
- Ability to analyze data needed in making business decisions and build strong business cases
- Ability to prioritize work based on level of urgency
- Team player with ability to work independently and in fast paced environment
- Detail oriented with ability to work independently and as a group
- Ability to travel 10-20% of time to corporate office (if remote) and broker sites or required by management
- This position is a remote based role
