The IT Support Technician supports growing team of approximately 200+ employees. This position provides end-user and infrastructure support, executes routine maintenance, and monitors network and systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports approx. 200+ employees with hardware and some software setup and maintenance.
  • Provides face-to-face and phone desktop support including resolving issues with desktop hardware, OS, applications, and related peripherals (printers, scanners, copiers), as well as occasional basic software support.
  • Administers Active Directory, which includes creating and deleting users, and creating and adding to security groups.
  • Administers VOIP telephone system and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Maintains users in spam filter application.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains new or moving user computers and related hardware and accessories.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventory, which includes, but not limited to cables, adapters, laptops, monitors, and PCs.
  • Provides infrastructure support in the following capacities:
    • Citrix and VMware environments, basic knowledge of AWS;
    • Networking knowledge such as switches and firewall appliance management, documenting systems;
    • Server software and hardware upgrades;
    • Research, learn, and evaluate new software; and
    • Primary and child domains.
  • Maintains data backup systems, and verifies every workday the completion of all backup jobs without issue.
  • Maintains security systems, network appliance, and servers, and verifies every workday that all cameras throughout facilities are functioning and recording properly.
  • Works required auction weekends (approx. 6 per year).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows server administration, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Exchange, AWS, Active Directory, Citrix, MacOS, LAN/WAN Support, network protocols (TCP/IP stack), file and directory security, VM Ware, wireless LAN.
  • Ability and willingness to troubleshoot tier-1 support issues and resolve such issues while maintaining professionalism, sound judgement, and logical reasoning.
  • Strong organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills with business etiquette.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality and working with sensitive information and data.
  • Ability to use and operate office equipment and machinery such as computer, copier, scanner, and fax machine.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active FOID card (Illinois residents only).

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • At least one (1) year prior IT desk support (tier 1) work experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • A+, AWS, and/or networking and security certifications highly preferred.
  • College coursework or degree in computer engineering, computer science, CIS, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

Occasionally moving and transporting up to 50 pounds. Constant sedentary work for prolonged periods up to 100% of the time with frequent ascending, descending, or positioning self to maintain moving and transporting technology devices, wires, supplies, and equipment. Must be able to constantly communicate and exchange accurate information. Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, troubleshoot, and assess issues or problems relevant to information technology desk support. Constantly operates and uses computer and other relevant equipment and office machinery. Constantly works around firearms, bladed weaponry, and valuable collectibles.
