Job Description

Position:                   UNCF Legal Assistant

Location:                  UNCF Headquarters

                                    Washington, DC

 

 

Leverage organizational, communications, interpersonal, and technology skills to support the Office of General Counsel (“OGC”) and the organization.  Legal Assistant must be highly detailed oriented, able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage in a fast-paced environment.

 

The Legal Assistant is responsible for administrative and clerical systems to include scheduling, accounting, and billing, travel, scanning, organizing documents, and other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  1. Primary support for Assistant General Counsel(s).
  2. Manage calendar and travel[1] for OGC staff as assigned; prepare expense reports; review and process invoices for payment.
  3. Create, organize, and maintain a digital filing system to include archival, legal and governance files and documents.
  4. Travel[2] with department staff to three (3) Board/Members meetings annually.  Trip requires 2–5-night stay, extended hours and travel by train, air, and ground.  
  5. Assist in planning and execution of Board/Members meetings; to include preparing documents; ordering and packing supplies; managing a satellite office; and other support as needed.
  6. Participates in routine department/staff meetings.
  7. Provides reports to management routinely and as requested.
  8. Other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to
    1. Proofing of internal and external documents
    2. Communicating with and building relationships with internal stakeholders
    3. Responsible for accuracy and completion of own work with minimal supervision
    4. Collaborate with OGC team members and others as assigned
    5. Handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidentially

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. 
  2. Excellent typing and technical skills as well as telephone decorum.
  3. Demonstrated ability to write in clear and concise business language.
  4. Strong computer skills.  Proficient in Microsoft Word Office Suite products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
