The Supply Chain Manager position is a Leadership role with “hands-on” working responsibilities. The Supply Chain Manager will have full responsibility for the Forecasting/Operational Planning Department in the US as well as being the key liaison to the Forecasting/Operational Planning Department in Germany.


Effective management of our global supply chain has been and will continue to be critical to customer satisfaction and therefore our long term success.  This position will be instrumental in executing our operational strategy to ensure we have high quality products where needed, when needed, at the optimal cost.


Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:



  • Forecasting review and recommendations
    • Maintain active dialogue with Marketing & Sales to understand trends, events and provide assistance
    • Align the forecast to the trends of the business
  • Present at monthly S&OP meetings
  • Assist in generating consensus forecast and input into MRP.

Operational Planning:   

  •  Achievement of Customer Service Objectives – by Business Unit and by key Customer while managing inventory levels while mitigating unplanned costs
  • Resolution of Back Orders and Minimization of future Back Orders to meet Company Goals
  • Communication both internally and externally on inventory availability and special requests (ex. large order requests/bids)
  • Management of dynamic safety stocks
  • Maintenance of replenishment parameters (e.g. economic order values, order cycles, lead-times, min, max)
  • Working with Sourcing to increase vendor reliability and flexibility while reducing lead times for supply
  • Monitoring and reporting of Slow Moving/Obsolete List monthly
  • Achievement of over-all inventory levels/DOH (Days On Hand) targets
  • Work with Unger entities to develop common Global Processes and coordination of planning and PO placement for common items
  • Coordinate with other Unger entities for Inter-company purchases
  • Identifying opportunities for postponing differentiation where available


  • Oversight and coordination of logistics to ensure best total cost of ownership

General Requirements:

  • Establishing Global Procedures
  • Establishing, documenting and improving processes in alignment with global procedures
  • Customer visits as required to assist with special needs

Personnel Development and Relations:

  • Coaching and development of team
  • Review of staff performance on a monthly basis and evaluate and plan improvements and changes if needed

·         Monthly review of KPI’s with staff and suggest how to adapt to meet goals

  • Responsible for Process and System Metrics. Inc Analyzing, Planning and implementation
  • Establish reporting methods to track performance of processes and improve as needed

Knowledge and Skill Required

  • At least 5 years experience in Forecasting/Inventory Planning/Purchasing  
  • Strong background and work experience in consumer goods
  • Facility with basic financial analysis
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, as well as being familiar with and able to adapt to ERP system requirements. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace environment  
  • Knowledge of Navision software a plus but not mandatory
  • Undergraduate degree in subject involving use of math (ideally statistics) preferred.
