DescriptionThe Pharmacy Technician II works under the supervision of pharmacists to assist in providing pharmacy services to patients. He/she fills medication orders, automated dispensing cabinets, and outpatient prescriptions. He/she prepackages medications, prepares
intravenous and irrigation fluid admixtures and is responsible for inventorying, ordering, stocking, charging and delivering medications including controlled substances to patient care areas and keeping all records associated with these activities. Training
newly hired technicians is also a responsibility of this position
RequirementsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent. Part time employees may be currently enrolled in high school.
Special Skills: Performs basic ratio/proportion math equations; full time employee must pass pharmacy administered Technician Competency Exam within six months of employment; basic computer skills; read, write and understand English.
Pre-placement Screening: Must have a negative result on a drug screen, a satisfactory medical exam that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential physical demands of the position, and a criminal background check that results in no findings of a relevant
offense compromises the fitness of the individual to have the responsibility of the job for which he/she has been hired.
Licenses/Certifications: NCBOP Technician Registration and PTCB Certification.
Education: Successful completion of a Community College Pharmacy Technician Program
Special Skills: Word processing and spreadsheets skills.
Experience: Hospital pharmacy experience.
