Supervise up to 15 direct reports. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; anticipates challenges and problem-solves; utilizes conflict management principles and coaching principles to manage and support staff.


Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and 5 years’ experience supervising staff in a children’s residential setting or BA degree in social work, phycology, or related field and 8 years’ experience supervising staff in a children’s residential setting. Experience in training, coaching and developing staff strongly preferred. Must have residential experience, preferably at a Level C psychiatric treatment facility. Extensive prior knowledge of Virginia DBHDS, COA and Medicaid regulations preferred.


Responsible for leading and overseeing the daily systems and staffing of the department’s therapeutic milieu, including planning, executing, and monitoring compliance, while managing the processes of hiring, coaching, training, and retention.  


Actively works on tactical planning and development of key performance indicators that reflect agency and departmental strategic goals.


Assist in developing and implementing program design, policies, procedures and practices in concordance with agency and regulatory standards.


Proficient in training, coaching, implementing and integrating evidenced based programming in a treatment setting.


Participate in department and/or agency-wide quality management efforts and planning; assist in the implementation and monitoring of departmental quality management objectives. 


Participate as a Leadership team member in weekly team meetings and in evaluations of other team members.  


Inspect program operations and facility to ensure the program procedures and practices meet DBHDS, COA, DMAS and agency standards.


Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of current treatment modalities, evidenced based practices  and management trends.


Provide staff training in TOVA and Collaborative Problem Solving. Demonstrate fluency in Child & Adolescent Sexuality, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Attachment, Trauma Informed Care and Youth and Family Engagement.


Provide individual and group supervision of current residential life shift leaders and future leaders identified in the redesign model. 

Ensure appropriate staffing and client coverage ratios are met at all times by replacing vacant positions within 30 days of staff resignation or termination.


Maintain a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Participate in an Administrator on-call rotation as assigned to ensure appropriate management oversight.


Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Residential Services.
