The Mental Counselor provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living.
Education: High School diploma or GED required accompanied with 5+ years of related psychiatric experience preferred. Associate's Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field strongly preferred.
Experience: One-year experience working with a psychiatric patient population preferred.
Retention : Eligible for Retention Bonus
Licensure/Certification: BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association and CPI certification required upon completion of orientation. BLS Provider and CPI certifications must remain active throughout employment.
Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.
