Job Description

Join Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Reimbursement Manager in our Accounting department in Chicago, IL!

 

In this role, the Reimbursement Manager is primarily responsible for the accuracy and timely reporting of the health systems non-hospital related net patient service revenue, i.e., physician groups, home care. Responsibilities include: the development, preparation and analysis of the non-hospital groups budgeted net patient revenues; AR valuations including contractual, bad debt/charity allowances; and the monthly/annual analysis of net patient service revenue. In addition, the manager identifies reimbursement improvements and recommends changes to reimbursement processes and assists as necessary to meet assigned deadlines. At times, the manager may need to review information generated by reimbursement staff for accuracy and reasonableness.

 

Other responsibilities include providing financial information to Management, provide net revenue information to support surveys (OBRA 93, IHA, AMA, etc.), tax (schedule H), cost reporting, community benefit requirements, and assisting with other projects as assigned.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages non-hospital monthly/annual preparation and accuracy of net patient service revenue, related statistics, and the net account receivable valuation for a complex academic patient population. Assists in the management of the Hospitals annual price increases project, including all documentation, communication with payers and revenue center managers, and audits for integrity. Maintains file integrity.
  • Coordinates upgrades to RCA system and functions as the contact point for EPIC related changes to ensure appropriate handling
  • Prepares functional specifications concerning information systems changes affecting both master files.
  • Maintains open communication to benefit from critical knowledge share elements with potential valuation implications. Work closely with the shared service accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting of UCPG and other EPIC related patient revenue activity.
  • Leads reimbursement staff in the gathering of data required for timely and accurate net patient service revenue reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of non-hospital’s annual net patient service revenue budget, incorporating anticipated changes in volume/service mix, payor mix and reimbursement rates.

 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (equivalent work experience may substitute for educational/certification requirements)
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a progressively responsible analytical position in a health care or comparable environment

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
