POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Member Relations division seeks an entrepreneurial, intellectually curious professional to join our team and support the growth of the Chamber's membership. The associate manager or manager will have deep policy expertise and be driven by a desire to leverage policy to engage new and existing members. The associate manager or manager will research and deliver policy insights relevant to a given industry or industries; prepare targeted and compelling marketing and sales materials; and work in close partnership with the sales team to research companies' issues and concerns and recommend relevant Chamber initiatives and activities as opportunities and solutions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the Member Relations team's go-to expert on a given industry or industries as well as support the new business team directly.
  • Work closely with Chamber subject matter experts and research industry verticals to acquire a deep understanding of their unique issue areas.
  • Create and maintain industry-specific marketing and/or sales proposals, reports, talking points, and pitch letters.
  • Write detailed issue briefs on respective industries for Chamber executives.
  • Monitor and report on Chamber events, legislative issues, and news items.
  • Support the preparation for member pitch meetings and briefings as needed.
  • Assist with additional team leadership needs, such as reviewing, editing, and managing the content of analysis briefs and execution of projects from the Executive Office.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of experience in a research, policy, marketing, or writing environment; title commensurate with years of experience.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with senior executives and policy leaders with confidence and sophistication. 
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and a passion for policy, with an ability to unpack complex topics to turn them into digestible, compelling sales opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively articulate the Chamber value proposition to our members, with an interest in politics and policy and a deep appreciation for the contributions that the Chamber makes to the business community at large.
  • A nose for news and the ability to creatively connect the dots between the headlines and the corresponding impact on a given industry or company. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and superior organization.
  • Ability to manage complex and fast-changing portfolios of work and prioritize effectively in response.
  • Comfort with ambiguity.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a track record showing initiative and ownership of work.
  • Experience using a CRM, such as Salesforce.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, notably Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
