Summary
The primarypurpose of this positionis to manage and support all computer programming, analysis, network, and/or equipment assignments and automation functions.
This vacancy is for anIT Specialist (Systems Administration)position in theAtlanta, GA.
Responsibilities
Ensure system availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; Resolve hardware/software, interface, and interoperability problems.
Assist with management of system resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability while performing other duties as assigned.
Develop software and systems so they are configured in accordance to security baselines and policy specifically with regard to access control and account management.
Develop complex routines and detailed sequences of internal program logic by coding, testing, and debugging.
Develop test data and appropriate testing procedures while analyzing and evaluating the results.

This is a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed (NTE)09/26/2020. This temporary promotion may be extended, terminated earlier, or made permanent at management's discretion. At the conclusion of the temporary promotion, the employee will return to their position of record.A probationary period may be required.Relocation expenseswill notbe paid.The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.
Qualifications
Experience mustbeIT related; theexperience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: For the GG-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes performing specific tasks, such as coding, testing, and/or debugging complex program units; supporting and maintaininga networked IT environment with emphasis on end user support and training; managing information systems in an office environment while documenting and developing system administration standard operating procedures; and communicating of IT material to audiences of varying technical background. OR
Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering or technology management or in one or more of the fields identified above that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. For the GG-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes performing specific tasks, such as coding, testing, and/or debugging complex program units while applying IT standards, policies, and established system design approaches; supporting a networked IT environment with emphasis on end user support and training; managing information systems in an office environment while resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; and communicating of IT material to audiences of varying technical background. OR Threefull years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering or technology management or in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of computer of applications, systems or networks. For the GG-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.
Experience for this position includes performing specific tasks, such as coding, testing, and/or debugging complex program units while developing software and systems in accordance to security and policy with regards to access control and account management; supporting a networked IT environment with emphasis on end user support and training while testing procedures, analyzing, and evaluating results; managing information systems in an office environment while resolving hardware/software, interface and interoperability problems while performing other duties; and communicating of IT material to audiences of varying technical background with an ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
