U.Group is seeking a technical writer / copy editor with 3+ years of experience to join our team. The Technical Writer / Copy Editor candidate will be instrumental in providing guidance on short- and long-form writing deliverables; ensuring the completeness and accuracy of content, including data analysis; maintaining style sheets and enhancing or developing new processes for streamlined reviews and editing. Ideal candidates would have technical writing experience in the government field.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and must also feel comfortable working across teams including our design, accessibility, strategy and project management teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that our clients' messaging is compelling and clearly written as it aligns with various marketing and communication programs and outreach initiatives. You would be responsible to help make sure all content going out is factually accurate and compliant with agency requirements.
      Provide editing support to ensure all program deliverables and client messaging are communicated clearly and accurately
      Ensure that style, structure and other editorial guidelines are firmly adhered to
      Provide content authors with guidance and feedback in order to efficiently produce messaging that is compelling, engaging and accurate
Skills Required
      A strong ability to synthesize and interpret complex or technical documents to review communications content for target audiences
      Substantial working knowledge in the following style guides:
o    U.S. Government Printing Office Style Manual
o    The Chicago Manual of Style
o    The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage
o    The Associated Press Stylebook
o    Federal Plain Language guidelines
      Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with clients, senior management and other technical teams
      Experience developing and reviewing content for a wide range of materials including reports, marketing collateral, traditional and social media, and websites
      Self-directed with the ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams
      Capable of managing multiple, simultaneous projects
      Exceptionally organized with the ability to meet tight production deadlines
      Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field or five years of relevant work experience
      Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Skills
      Government experience in the criminal justice field is a plus
      Familiarity working with government agencies
