The Executive Director (Exec. Dir.) serves as the chief operating officer of Twilight Wish Foundation reporting to the Board of Directors. Responsibilities include the organization's consistent achievement of its’ mission to celebrate seniors through intergenerational wish granting events and its’ vision to make the world a nicer place to age, one Twilight Wish at a Time.

The Exec. Dir. has primary responsibility to implement the Board’s strategic and financial objectives. The Exec. Dir. is responsible for fundraising including grant writing, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, brand marketing, chapter growth, and, event planning as well as other fundraising initiatives.

The Exec. Dir. will direct and administer all programs, operations and policies and supervise, manage and motivate the headquarters staff, volunteers and chapter management. program management of wish granting and raising awareness of senior issues through public and community relations, media management and business development.

Responsibilities:

Leadership/Management:

• Written Monthly Board Report on activities with innovative recommendations to implement board approved long-range strategic plan and policies.

• Develop, update, implement and supervise board approved programs and services.

• Provide leadership, actively engage and energize direct reports.

• Actively engage and energize Twilight Wish Foundation's volunteers, committees, board members, partnering organizations and donors.

• Responsible for workplace culture and sound human resource practices including personnel functions, recruitment, job training, regular performance evaluations, motivational including award program designs for retention.

Finance/Fundraising/Administration:

• Together with the Board of Directors, annually develop and manage the fundraising and financial strategies of Twilight Wish for the upcoming fiscal year.

• Work with the Director of Finance to develop annual budget for approval by the Board.

• Report on operations and budget variances monthly.

• Identify, seek, outreach to potential corporate sponsors, individual donor and grants.

• Make necessary efforts to retain current sponsors and grow relationships.

• Recruit and engage local community and national corporate volunteer leaders

• Oversee the management of all funds, consistent with the organization's accounting policies.

• Conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly, with designated officers, execute legal documents.

• Maintain and build annual Chapter Charitable Registrations.

• Maintain Registered Trademarks and awareness.

Communication:

• Attend all board meetings. Keep the Board fully informed on the status of Twilight Wish and important factors that influence it.

• Effectively ensure communication of Board of Director initiatives to staff, volunteers and chapters.

• Build brand awareness. Deepen and refine all aspects of communications.

• Develop effective working relationships with community groups and organizations to ensure that Twilight Wish is well represented in the community-at-large.

• Serve as local and regional spokesperson for Twilight Wish and advise founder for national media.

• Improve Social Media outreaches. Maximize media for awareness.

 

Executive Director Qualifications:

• Proven donor cultivation and solicitation experience and persuasive presentation skills.

• Strong passion to make the world a better place for the aging and the elderly

• College graduate with at least 10 years of senior management experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

• Strong nonprofit experience through board volunteerism or as an employee

• Advanced degree, ideally an MBA, preferred with nonprofit management, education and training

• Past success in working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate new and existing board member relationships

• Understanding of Charity Rating Organizations including Charity Navigator; Guidestar.org and BBB.

• Great media interface experience. Knowledge of the industry including McKnight’s and Philanthropy Today.

• Familiar with current AICPA and IRS Charity Rules.

• Outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

• Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills

• Ability to positively motivate and develop staff

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups

• Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed
