Education & Experience Required

High school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED).

Previous experience working with the public in a customer service role.

SUMMARY

The Sportsbook Supervisor, under the authority of the Sportsbook Manager, supervises the day-to-day activities the sports book operation and the Sportsbook Writers. Fosters an environment focused on high performance, compliance and excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Help the Sportsbook Manager become aware of operational information that will help to maximize the profitability of the sports book.
  • Manage the operational cost of the sports book, with a focus on labor costs and inventory management/control.
  • Hold regular meetings with sports book leadership to develop strategic initiatives in the promotion of the sports book.
  • Mentor employees to help them become better ticket writers.
  • Drive and motivate the staff to deliver a high level of customer service to both regular customers and novice bettors.
  • Handle escalated customer complaints/issues as needed.
  • Ensure that the sports book staff is operating in a manner that follows all company and state gaming agency rules and regulations.
  • Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA and Tribal Code 14 GTBC 5.
  • Be able to deliver core customer service values.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
  • Inquires and responds to management guidance, assignments and constructive feedback to learn new and updated information.
  • Required to attend on-going training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with team.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to achieve maximum results.
  • Reinforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Assist manager with planning and organizing departmental functions.
  • Assists and directed by manager with employee interviews, performance reviews, corrective actions, and other employee related responsibilities as requested.
  • May monitor Kronos and employee records information such as absent reports, terminations, and vacation and personal time off requests
  • Assists manager to oversee departmental training procedures and evaluate effectiveness of the training program
  • Maintaining safety and security in the department including all emergency responses and reports.
  • Ensure completion of schedules and posting, scheduled shift reports and other shift details as required by manager.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant gaming regulations.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with other departments and within the department itself.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED

Equipment to be used but not limited to the following: Computer-Word, Excel, Power Point, calculators, sportsbook software.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge Required

Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Skills Required

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Committed to delivering a high level of customer service

Abilities Required

Ability to motivate, lead, and mentor staff members

Physical Requirements

May require lifting, pushing, pulling and/or moving objects up to 25lbs.

Occasional reaching, twisting, bending, stretching, and kneeling.

Standing or walking throughout entire shift.

Additional Job Requirements

Must be 18 years old.

Professional appearance and demeanor.

Self-starter attitude who shows initiative.

Must be able to pass a background investigation, maintain a gaming license and pass a drug and alcohol screen as a condition of employment.

Must successfully pass a job interview.

Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and/or days off and variable shifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior work experience in a sports book is highly preferred.

Previous working knowledge of sportsbook software.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to work in a fast paced, stressful atmosphere, having the ability to deal with difficult situations and people without losing perspective while remaining focused positive and professional. and Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud, smoking environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position.
