Job Description

Turner & Townsend's Natural Resources Division is a leading provider of Program Management, Project Services, Project Controls, Contract Services, Consultancy and Advisory Services to the resources industries covering Clean Energy & Decarbonization (CE&D), Mining, Chemicals and Oil and Gas. We support projects throughout the whole lifecycle from pre-development, through feasibility, concept selection and definition, FEED, delivery of facilities, processing, distribution and REVEX/OPEX investment.

Turner & Townsend is located throughout the United States where we support clients across all sectors. The Clean Energy & Decarbonization sector plays a key role in our Natural Resources Vision 2025 strategic plan for the US. Due to the continued success and expansion of the Clean Energy & Decarbonization business, we are interested in speaking with a Senior Consultant with a proven background in renewable energy projects and program, who can provide the required leadership, assurance, and business development focus to ensure our strategic goals are achieved.

Requirements

Experience and credibility in the Clean Energy & Decarbonization sector, with an existing knowledge of, and relationships with, both national and international investing clients and an understanding of their ongoing investment portfolio, both in CAPEX and sustaining capital spend.

Your track record will have seen you holding senior roles on complex projects, in one or more of the following areas: Carbon Capture & Storage, Biofuels, Hydrogen, Solar, Electric Grid and Storage, Onshore/ Offshore Wind or similarly complex asset classes

Technical understanding of the services that will be offered to clients (Estimating, Cost Management, Project Controls, Project Services, Contract Management, Risk Management, Project Management, etc).

Candidates should expect, and be able to, travel throughout the US, to support the growth of the US Natural Resources business.

  • Increase market share and influence, within the Clean Energy & Renewables sector in the US.
  • Develop a position for Turner & Townsend as a natural partner within this marketplace.
  • Create a consistent and profitable business stream through the right ambition.
  • Identify and understand areas of opportunity and development.
  • Enable and achieve financial targets and continued growth within target markets.
  • To ensure that the Clean Energy & Decarbonization business in Asia is effectively structured, engaged and led.

Key requirements of the role:
  • To be an inspirational leader and strategic thinker.
  • To build strong relationships with clients and cross-functional team members. The job requires the holder to build trust with clients, industry partners and colleagues
  • To secure business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, and to generate new business to achieve the Vision 2025 goal for the US, and specifically the CE&D sector.
  • Provide clear leadership on behalf of clients, translating into trust and confidence in the organizations ability to deliver.
  • To build a strong CE&D team with a goal of being best in class in the market. This will include identifying potential acquisitions and key talent.
  • Develop the respect of the team through track record and leadership qualities.
  • Set ambitious yet achievable targets for the CE&D sector in the US.
  • Effectively manage risks and maximize commercial returns, applying business acumen.
  • Inspire people to give their best and to challenge the norm to find better ways to achieve, by valuing and nurturing the diverse skills and perspectives of our people.
  • Lead by example and not be averse to being hands-on in creation and delivery.
  • Act as a team player and be highly visible within the business.


Qualifications

Profile and key competencies:

You will be self-motivated, driven by the goal of establishing Turner & Townsend as the #1 project management and commercial consultancy for clean energy and decarbonization projects in the US. As a Director, you will also be responsible for developing and delivering on a business plan to meet ambitious annual growth targets.

You will have:
  • Extensive experience working as a client and/or consultant in development and delivery of clean energy
  • A proven track record managing large projects and/or programs of work
  • Experience in variety of methods of procurement and forms of contract
  • A broad understanding of the electricity value chain from generation, through grid and into supply
  • Preferably demonstrated experience managing renewable energy sector projects
  • A strong and current understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements and industry trends
  • Experience in business development and building teams
  • An established network within the power industry supply chain
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • The ability to guide and lead internal teams, offering a strong point of focus for the business.
  • Proven success in advising, securing, and delivering on behalf of clients in the US
  • Operated as a consultant and delivered major capital programs

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in construction and/or engineering
  • Professional memberships desirable.
