Project Estimator - Job Summary

As a Project Estimator, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the success of Turn Key Construction Management through the following job responsibilities:

Typical Duties

  • Prepare general construction pre-construction estimates for negotiated CM projects and design-build projects
  • Soliciting subcontractor pricing and verifying scope of work
  • Communicate with design teams within architectural and engineering firms
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals
  • Competitive bidding projects
  • Analyze plans and specifications to understand labor, material, and equipment costs in order to prepare professional and accurate cost estimates in schematic, design development, and construction document phases of design
  • Understand and develop unit costs accurately
  • Plan, direct and coordinate multiple construction projects
  • Provide cost evaluations, develop bids, negotiate contracts, purchase materials, and prepare project budgets
  • Represent company at project meetings, conduct needs assessment, explain design concerns and cost-effective options
  • Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and the imagination to derive the most efficient method of completing the task
  • Foresight to predict problems before they develop
  • Maintain a complete understanding of job contract and contract documents.
  • Attend owner and project meetings, maintain continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions and communicate relevant information to Project Team.
  • Cultivates and maintains a strong relationship with current and potential clients
  • Source and build relationships with specialty contractors and vendors


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or a Construction Management-related program is preferred
  • 2 years minimum of experience in general construction estimating preferred
  • Polished business communication skills, both written and oral along with presentation experience
  • Solid working-knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and computer estimating software
  • Conceptual estimating experience is a plus
